The Best Vintage Stores in Paris

Vogue’s guide to the best vintage stores in Paris is part of our directory of the very best vintage around the world, curated by editors from all over. Whether you’re traveling and searching for some superb stores to visit on your trip or are curious about your local vintage treasure chests, Vogue’s directory has you covered.

If there’s a place on earth to shop for clothes, it’s Paris. And while the city is known for its designer boutiques and grands magasins, its secondhand scene is second to none. From depôts-vents, where the city’s chicest women offload designer pieces from recent seasons, to thrift-shopping troves with finds from Y2K and earlier, the city is a vintage treasure-hunter’s dream.

That said, the Paris vintage scene is constantly evolving—so we’ve done the legwork and rounded up the best vintage in Paris, curated with the help of our editors at Vogue Paris.

Don’t let its hilarious name fool you; this is one serious vintage store. Though it’s a trio of stores, technically—there are two for women and one for kids/homewares. The main women’s store is laid out like a horseshoe with endlessly and uniformly spaced clothing on neat display. It’s all curated by owner Sylvie Chateigner, who has methodically merchandised the store by color. Decades (things go as far back as the 1940s) intermingle—you’ll find ’70s Rive Gauche next to an ’80s Alaïa body-con dress.

The New York Times recently profiled Didier Ludot in a piece titled “The Man Who All But Created Vintage Fashion,” so any list of vintage without his boutique, located in the Palais Royale is sorely incomplete. A Parisian institution, the store opened 50 years ago with historically significant fashion and one-of-a-kind pieces from couture’s golden age. Fiercely passionate about his finds, Ludot prefers to buy his finds outright—this is no vintage consignment shop, it’s the next best thing to a fashion museum.
