Sixth victim of Westfield Bondi Junction stabbing attack identified

The sixth victim of the mass stabbing attack at Bondi Junction has been identified.

Yixuan Cheng, aged in her early 20s, was killed in the stabbing spree on Saturday afternoon.

It’s understood she was a Chinese national, studying at a university in Australia.

7NEWS understands Cheng had just finished an exam, before heading to Westfield Bondi Junction to treat herself and celebrate her hard work.

Minutes before the attack unfolded, it’s understood Cheng was on the phone to her fiancé back in China.

The family is expected to arrive in Australia on Monday.

Queenslander Joel Cauchi, 40, stabbed six people to death and seriously wounded 12 others in a killing spree before being shot dead by NSW Police Inspector Amy Scott at Westfield Bondi Junction on Saturday afternoon.

Among those killed was 38-year-old osteopath Ashlee Good, whose nine-month-old daughter was also injured during the mass stabbing and remained in intensive care on Sunday after undergoing emergency surgery.

The others that have since been identified are 25-year-old daughter of multi-millionaire businessman John Singleton Dawn Singleton, security guard Faraz Tahir, mother-of-two Jade Young and 55-year-old Pikria Darchia.

Cauchi’s estranged family issued a statement through Queensland police on Sunday, declaring they were devastated by the traumatic events and expressing sorrow for the victims.

“Joel’s actions were truly horrific, and we are still trying to comprehend what has happened,” it read.

“He has battled with mental health issues since he was a teenager.”
