NSW Ambulance paramedics’ touching final act for 85-year-old before she died

A NSW resident was given the chance to take one last look at the NSW coastline on which she met her husband in a touching final act performed by paramedics before she died.

Mavis, 85, was being transferred to a palliative care unit last week by NSW Ambulance Wauchope paramedics Ray and Dave when she mentioned her special connection to the ocean.

The 85-year-old shared her love story with the duo, revealing she met her husband of 65 years, Ron, at Clovelly Beach.

It had been the happiest moment of her life, she said.

Ray and Dave decided to give Mavis the chance to look out at the ocean one final time and offered to stop off on the way at Flynns Beach in Port Macquarie.

They pulled the stretcher out of the van and the trio sat gazing out at the ocean, even spotting a passing whale.

“She grabbed my hand once back in the van and kept thanking us,” Ray said.

“We really gelled with her.”
