MKR rocked by new sabotage scandal: ‘Watch out’

An MKR team has been accused of sabotage following a fiery Instant Restaurant round that left many stunned.

New “gatecrasher” Aaron has come under fire after making a string of wild statements about the other “basic” teams during Tuesday night’s episode.

But it was a series of harsh critiques that led Melbourne contestant Christian to accuse Chris and his teammate Aaron of sabotage, saying they were attempting to “throw off” the other teams as a “tactic” to win the competition.

The drama started when Chris and Aaron gave poor reviews of Claudean and Anthony’s first two Instant Restaurant dishes.

The Brisbane couple, who narrowly escaped elimination in the first round, wowed the table and judges Colin Fassnidge and Manu Feildel with their entree and main.

The celebrity chefs both awarded Claudean and Anthony a score of nine for their zucchini flowers entree, while their rabbit main earned a score of nine from Manu and an eight from Colin.

Despite their high praise – and that of the other teams – Aaron and Chris slammed the two dishes.

“I don’t necessarily think it was a threatening start,” Chris said of the entree. “We want to be impressed, and if someone doesn’t impress us with a dish, well they’re going to hear about it.”

He went on to pan the rabbit main as well.

“I just felt it was all a little underwhelming,” Chris said. “The ratio of mash is probably a little bit more on the plate – but slightly underwhelming in terms of flavour.”

Aaron also described the rabbit as “chalky” and said: “The sauce lacks a bit of flavour.”

Given that they were the only people around the table to criticise the main dish, Chris accused the pair of having ulterior motives.

“I think Aaron and Chris are very, very critical of what was a very, very good dish,” he said.

“Is this a tactic? Are they trying to throw everyone off?”

When it came time to scoring the meals overall, all of the MKR teams awarded Claudean and Anthony scores of six or seven – however Aaron and Chris only gave them a four.

The move left Claudean to accuse the other contestants of playing games.

“I think the guest teams’ score of 29 was low,” she said. “I think that we have been scored harshly.”

Earlier in the show, Chris didn’t hold back – taking several swipes at the other teams.

He then took aim at the “redemption teams” – who all failed to impress in the first round and are being given another chance to secure their spot in the competition.

“I’m expecting one or two disasters tonight,” he said. “We are talking about a redemption team. Like, how many cracks at the cherry do you need?”

After looking at Claudean and Anthony’s menu, he added: “Sounds a bit basic, let’s hope it’s better than last time.”

Chris’s wild statements left the other teams stunned.

“Everyone needs to watch out – especially Chris after what he just said,” Christian said.

Marcus added: “Chris is letting loose tonight, he’s not scared of anyone.”

Unimpressed, Brijita added: “There’s definitely a lot of testosterone across the table. Dumb, it’s so dumb.”
