A couple of months ago—not long after NBC had ordered a pilot for a Los Angeles-based companion series to Suits—British Vogue’s film and culture editor Radhika Seth penned a heartfelt plea to the Duchess of Sussex. “Would a small cameo on the upcoming show be completely and totally out of the question?” Seth wrote. “Meghan, if you’re reading this, please make an appearance.” The truth is: the chances of Meghan Markle “suiting up” again are about as likely as her now-defunct blog The Tig being resurrected from its digital necropolis. (Although we do have American Riviera Orchard to look forward to.)
And so, I imagine the Suits fandom was somewhat satiated with this image The Alliance of Moms uploaded to Instagram, featuring co-stars Markle and Abigail Spencer posing with their mutual friend Jessica Zajfen, barefoot in the grass and wearing T-shirts bearing the phrase “Love Like A Mother”. “When we speak about the people in our lives who lift us up when you need it, with an undeniable force of pure love, I think of these two,” momfluencer Zajfen wrote in the accompanying caption. “You inspire me. You pick me up when I need it and you Love Like A Mother!” Proceeds from the sale of those T-shirts will be funneled into education and advocacy services, “so that young parents in foster care and their children can heal and thrive”.
