Margot Robbie Ditched Her Barbie Beauty Inspo for the 2024 Oscars — See Photos

Barbiecore, Barbie pink, Barbie Botox: for almost a year now, we’ve had to talk about “Barbie”-inspired fashion and beauty trends until we were pink in the face. No one has dealt (suffered?) this fate more than Barbie herself, Margot Robbie, who has dressed in outfits pulled straight from the body of her character’s plastic namesake and worked pink into more beauty looks than we can count. On Oscar Sunday, the culminating evening in a very long press tour and awards circuit journey for Barbie, Robbie finally looks like another very famous blonde — herself.

She’s still got the Barbie wave down, though.

Presumably, Robbie will one day wear hot pink lipstick and bright pink eye shadow once again, but Oscar Sunday was not that day. Instead, Robbie opted for a peach lip and subtle and shimmery blush. Nail artist Betina Goldstein gave her a “warm caramel” manicure with Chanel Le Vernis Légende polish, straying even further away from the pink color family. Robbie’s hair is still blonde — she hasn’t left Barbie that far behind — but colorist Jacob Schwartz even subtly changed up her shade ahead of the show.

As recently as the Screen Actors Guild Awards late last month, Robbie’s longtime makeup artist Patti Dubroff was decking the star out in all pink everything. We can only imagine that the switch-up comes as a relief to Robbie, who heroically worked with her stylist and glam teams to fit pink and/or Barbie-inspired clothes and makeup into almost every one of her outfits for months. With tonight’s Oscars — where “Barbie” has the chance to pick up eight trophies, including Best Picture, Best Costume Design, and Best Supporting for America Ferrera and Ryan Gosling — Robbie is signifying that she’s ready for a new shade: Oscar trophy Gold.
