Man, 36, missing from Toronto psychiatric facility

A 36-year-old man has gone missing from a downtown psychiatric facility for the second time in recent years.

Toronto Police say Simon Shimout, aka Napayok, was last seen in the area of Queen St. W. and Ossington Ave. around 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.

He was found not criminally responsible for assault with a weapon in 2006 and is bound by a Form 49 Warrant of Committal whose Disposition of Detention commits the person to the custody of a provincial psychiatric hospital to abide by certain conditions.

He is currently a patient at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health.

Shimout also disappeared without permission from CAMH in June 2020 but was located a day later.

He’s described as 5-foot-10, 140 pounds, with a thin build and black hair. He wears reading glasses and was last seen wearing a black hat, black jacket, white and grey shirt, blue jeans and black shoes.
