Gabrielle Union Wore a Drugstore Manicure to the Met Gala — See the Photos

The Met Gala is all about custom couture and over-the-top beauty moments, but Gabrielle Union brought a little high-low glam to the event with her manicure, opting for a shade you can pick up at a drugstore near you for a little touch of Met magic anytime.

For the first Monday in May, Union slipped into a glimmering ombré aqua Michael Kors mermaid gown, pairing it with a sheer polish reminiscent of the inside of a seashell. From far away, it looks like a simple milky neutral, but upon closer inspection, Union’s nails sparkle with the prettiest hint of golden glaze.

“THIS DRESS. WHAT IS THERE TO SAY??!!” manicurist Thuy Nguyen shared of the inspo behind the nails, referencing Union’s gorgeous gown. “I wanted to give her nails the right amount of sparkle it needed to bring the look all together. The beautiful cascade of colors moved me into using something with a little bit of sheerness and just enough amount of iridescence.”

Union’s Met mani can be yours for just around $20. Nguyen shaped the star’s nails into soft ovals, then applied Sally Hansen Color Therapy nail polish in the sheer, pinky-nude Bare Kiss. Atop the creme polish, she painted on a coat of Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Top Coat in Unicorn Transparent for that iridescent glow. (Union’s husband, Dwyane Wade, also wore a drugstore mani for the Met, including pale gray tones and a black and white checkered thumbnail.)
