North Melbourne and Brisbane will square off in the AFLW grand final at Ikon Park on Sunday, live and free on Seven and 7plus.

The Kangaroos won through to the premiership decider after sunning Melbourne in a qualifying final before edging out Adelaide by one point in an epic preliminary final.

The Lions upset the Crows in their qualifying final before holding on to beat Geelong by just four points in another cracking preliminary final.

For Brisbane, it will remarkably be their fifth grand final, having triumphed in 2021, but been runner-up on three occasions.

The Kangaroos have been perennial challengers, but this will be the first grand final.

How to get AFLW grand final tickets

The league confirmed the match sold out in less than three hours after going on sale to the general public on Monday.

The premiership will be decided in front of a crowd of about 13,000 due to the redevelopment of Ikon Park that has significantly reduced the 30,000 capacity.

Grand final entertainment

Two-time ARIA Award winning artist and 2023 AFLW premiership cup ambassador, G Flip, will perform in the pre-game entertainment from 1:30pm AEDT.

Who will present the premiership cup?

North Melbourne great Jack Ziebell has been chosen to hand the cup to the Kangaroos if they win the grand final.

Ziebell, a former captain, retired this year after 280 games across 15 years at the club.

Brisbane AFLW premiership captain Emma Zielke will present the cup if the Lions are victorious.

Zielke, the club’s inaugural captain, played 41 games for the club, including leading the Lions to the premiership in 2021.

Who decides the best on ground medal?

Channel 7 commentator Abbey Holmes leads the five-person panel, that also includes recently retired legend Erin Phillips.

What happens if scores are level at full-time?

1. Goal umpires confirm scores are identical;

2. There is a six-minute break (accredited coaches and staff are permitted to enter the playing arena during this period);

3. Teams change ends;

4. Three minutes of Additional Time shall be played, plus time-on;

5. At the end of the first Additional Time period, the siren will sound and teams will immediately change ends without a break;

6. The ball will be thrown up in the centre and a further three minutes of play (plus time-on) will commence;

7. At the conclusion of this period, the siren will sound and the team with the highest score is declared the winner;

8. If scores are still tied, steps three to eight are repeated until a result is determined.
