Delta Goodrem’s major announcement: ‘Beginning of a new era’

Australian singer Delta Goodrem has stunned fans with a major announcement.

In a lengthy Instagram post, Goodrem heralded the beginning of a “new era” as she told fans she was releasing new music and had launched a “new home” for it, with the creation of her own label ATLED Records.

Goodrem was just a teenager when she signed to Sony Music. Her first album, Innocent Eyes, was one of the highest-selling debut albums in Australian history.

In a post shared alongside a promo image for her new song Back to Your Heart, which showed Goodrem posing beside a piano in latex pants and stiletto boots, the beloved songstress explained more about her radical decision to create her own label.

“Here we go! My new song Back to Your Heart is now available to pre-save/pre-add, and comes out August 4th,” she wrote.

“It marks the beginning of a new era in more ways than one.

“What an epic way to share it with you all for the first time in a live performance, at one of the most incredible festivals in the world in Malta.

“No album or music I have ever made has come together the same way as the last,” Goodrem continued.

“I have always been inspired by the creation of music, but also the ever-changing landscape of the industry.

“In these moments, it’s particularly thrilling to construct your own universe with like-minded individuals who have unwavering faith in you, just as you do in them.

“These are the hearts that will join you on the journey.”

Goodrem went on to tell fans she had “more projects in the works than ever before”, something which had surpassed her “wildest dreams”.

And she explained it had challenged her to “think outside the box and evaluate” how she wanted to continue sharing music.

“I would consider myself to be someone who has always run their own race and in these moments it is extremely exciting to be able to set up your own music world!” Goodrem wrote.

“Having ownership of my music in an industry that is constantly evolving is an incredible feeling and fuels my artistry and business ventures.

“I feel an overwhelming sense of gratitude towards the incredible community that has supported me for over two decades. But times have changed and so have I.

“It’s a new era, new world, with endless possibilities – so I created a new home for my music. Welcome to ATLED Records.”

Fans and industry insiders reacted with delight to the news Goodrem was going it alone.

“Delta wishing you all the best for this exciting new era of music. Love and Light!” Sony Music Australia responded.

Meanwhile, Goodrem’s partner musician Matthew Copley wrote simply: “Let’s goooooooooo #ATLED.”

Another fan pointed out a special detail in the name of her label – Atled is Delta spelt backwards.

“Never met anyone with the passion and drive you possess. So much to do and doing it all! So happy for you and this next chapter. #ATLED #DELTA Congratulation,” the fan wrote.

“So proud of you! And so excited that ‘Back to Your Heart’ has been heard by so many now. ATLED Records is going to rule the world! 🌎 and you’ll be sitting on top! Love yoooooou,” another added.

It’s been a huge few weeks for Goodrem – who in July revealed it had been 20 years since she learned she had Hodgkin’s lymphoma, a cancer of the lymphatic system.

Her diagnosis came on the same day that the third single from her album Innocent Eyes hit #1 in the charts.

“I remember that day so clearly and all the mixed emotions that came with the news of being diagnosed with cancer while my album had been sitting at #1 for three months prior and the third single hit #1 same day,” the star explained in an emotional Instagram post.

“I was meant to be going over to Europe where my album had just debuted #2 and #1 in all different countries that week to start international promo.

“One split second and all the plans had changed.”

Goodrem went on to say that her cancer diagnosis had her searching for meaning, writing that she told herself: “There must be a reason this is happening”.

“How can I come out better? What is the lesson?” she wrote.
