Blue Wiggle Anthony Field makes candid admission live on Sunrise alongside co-stars and daughter Lucia

The Wiggles father-daughter duo Anthony and Lucia Field have spoken out about their dynamics working together with the hit children’s group.

All eight Wiggles members stopped by Sunrise, with the conversation quickly turning to how Anthony and Lucia get along since Lucia, 19, joined the group in 2022.

Blue Wiggle Anthony, a founding member, says it is “funny” to think about who is in charge, recalling that sometimes he has to tell his daughter, “This is Anthony Wiggle talking, not dad talking”.

“It’s pretty good most of the time. I’m having so much fun,” Lucia said.

Recalling a behind-the-scenes moment, Anthony said that “the other day on stage, Lucia was telling the drummer to slow down”.

“Just to help because he was new!” she chimed in.

“And I was going, ‘Luch, that’s my job’,” the dad laughed, adding that, in all seriousness, it was “fantastic” to work with his daughter.

Anthony then went on to make a candid admission.

“I was away so much (of her childhood), nine months a year. I’ve gotten to know her as an adult now, and I just love her,” he gushed.

“Also having the new energy of all these wonderful people, we have a great time.”

“We’re always laughing, everyone’s always supporting each other,” Anthony said of their dynamics.

Meanwhile, Pearce, who had his start in the pop group Justice Crew, said his former experience doing “break dancing and doing flips here and there” has helped him with the Wiggles.

“We try and incorporate that onto the stage and it’s all fun at the end of the day,” he said.

Anthony recalled when the group went to Canada to promote its tour and all anyone wanted to talk about was Pearce – who went viral on TikTik earlier in 2023 for his dancing.

“We were ready to talk about the tour and they went ‘Tell us about John, he’s an internet sensation’,” the Blue Wiggle laughed.

“All they wanted to know was ‘How much do you bench press?’”

After going viral on TikTok in January 2023, Pearce told Sunrise it was “insane to think that something that I created online for a bit of a laugh has taken a turn”.

“It’s definitely an overwhelmingly positive response but it’s all good for Wiggles I think.”

Pearce has more than 6.5 million likes on TikTok as of July 20, going viral on a series of videos.

The entertainer told Sunrise that, while he hoped for popularity with the Wiggles’ target audience of young children, he did not expect such a reaction from their mums.

“I expected a few laughs and a few comments here and there,” he said.

“But you know, it’s getting emails and messages from different media outlets in the US asking me about TikToks.

“I was thinking, ‘What’s all this about?’

“The TikToks are something that I made for fun.”

The Wiggles are touring Australia across November and December 2023.
