List changes: Tyler Brown (del), Jackson Hately (del), Fischer McAsey (ret), Andrew McPherson (del), Tariek Newchurch (del), Paul Seedsman (ret)

Who’s coming?

The Crows are among a handful of clubs with interest in Gold Coast big man Mabior Chol, but appear set to land his teammate Chris Burgess instead. The Crows made a big play for Mason Redman, but the gun defender inked a bumper deal to remain at Essendon. They have also been linked to Melbourne superstar Clayton Oliver.

Who’s going?

Shane McAdam is a certainty to depart the club after rejecting a three-year contract offer and requesting a trade to Melbourne. Restricted free agent Tom Doedee has settled on Brisbane as his new home, with the Crows hopeful of receiving a second-round pick as compensation. There is talk the GWS Giants are keen on making a play for Elliott Himmelberg to play alongside brother Harry.

Brisbane

Draft picks: 27, 46, 56*, 62, 70, 92*

List changes: Marcus Adams (ret), Daniel Rich (ret)

Who’s coming?

After falling just short of the premiership, the Lions won’t need to bring in much to be among the leading contenders in 2024. However, they are expected to land restricted free agent Tom Doedee from Adelaide who has named Brisbane as his club of choice. The 26-year-old tore his ACL in Round 12 this year, but could still command a decent contract.

Who’s going?

Dev Robertson has a big decision to make after playing 16 games this year. Often on the fringe of selection, talented 22-year-old played all three finals and kicked a goal in the grand final. West Coast are keen to lure the West Australian back home and reportedly have a big offer on the table. Dayne Zorko played his 250th game in the grand final, but remains without a deal for next year.

Carlton

Draft picks: 16, 65, 73, 91

List changes: Ed Curnow (ret), Josh Honey (del), Lochie O’Brien (del), Sam Philp (del), Lachie Plowman (ret)

Who’s coming?

The Blues showed initial interest in St Kilda free agent Jade Gresham, but appears to have cooled on the star Saint. With Jack Silvagni and Tom De Koning both inking new deals, Carlton don’t have much room to move, but they have been linked to Gold Coast’s Elijah Hollands. If Carlton land the No.7 pick from the 2020 draft then he will link up bother Ollie.

Who’s going?

The Blues have already made five list changes to their list and are expected to lose two more during the trade period. Paddy Dow is expected to request a trade, likely to St Kilda, for more opportunities after managing just 10 games in 2023. Zac Fisher is likely to land at North Melbourne despite being contracted at Carlton until the end of 2025.

Collingwood

Draft picks: 18*, 36, 75*, 93*

List changes: Trey Ruscoe (del)

Who’s coming?

Collingwood met with North Melbourne free agent Todd Goldstein, but the veteran ruck has decided to join former coach Brad Scott at Essendon. The Magpies were in the mix for Adelaide free agent Doedee, but the injured defender has named Brisbane as his club of choice.

Who’s going?

The Magpies are in a great spot with their list, although some fringe players could seek more opportunities elsewhere. Fin McRae managed just one senior game this year and, despite being contracted for next year, he could be tempted elsewhere. Trey Ruscoe has been delisted while Trent Bianco is also out of contract.

Essendon

Draft picks: 8, 28, 47, 68, 83

List changes: Alastair Lord (del), Cian McBride (del), Anthony McDonald-Tipungwuti (ret), Rhett Montgomerie (del), Anthony Munkara (del), Andrew Phillips (ret)

Who’s coming?

The Bombers have already won the race to secure free agents Ben McKay and Todd Goldstein from North Melbourne. McKay will give coach Brad Scott some much-needed help in the backline, while Goldstein will give Essendon an extra option in the ruck to help injury-prone big man Sam Draper and youngster Nick Bryan. The Bombers appear likely to land St Kilda free agent Jade Gresham as well in what is looming as a bumper trade period.

Who’s going?

Key defender Brandon Zerk-Thatcher has requested a trade to Port Adelaide. But don’t expect that to be a smooth negotiation with reports the Bombers will demand a first-round pick in return. Running defender Massimo D’Ambrosio has knocked back a one-year extension and requested a trade to Hawthorn. There are also reports the Bombers could look at trading contracted midfielder Dylan Shiel.

Fremantle

Draft picks: 22, 41, 55, 59, 80

List changes: Eric Benning (del), Travis Colyer (del), Nathan Wilson (del)

Who’s coming?

The Dockers aren’t expected to be major players this year, but could have another crack at Gold Coast winger Jeremy Sharp after last year’s deal fell through. The 22-year-old is now out of contract and failed to play a single senior game for the Suns this year.

Who’s going?

Winger Liam Henry has requested a trade to St Kilda in a major blow to the Dockers. The 22-year-old is fresh off a breakout season where he managed 16 games and topped 30 disposals on three occasions. There’s a watch on ruckman Sean Darcy, who is out of contract next year when he qualifies for free agency.

Geelong

Draft picks: 7, 82

List changes: Jonathon Ceglar (ret), Sam Menegola (del), Osca Riccardi (del), Sam Simpson (del), Isaac Smith (ret), Cooper Whyte (del)

Who’s coming?

After last year’s haul of Ollie Henry, Jack Bowes and Tanner Bruhn, the Cats might be quiet this year. List boss Andrew Mackie has said on record their prized pick No.7 will be on the table for the right offer. Were loosely linked to Bailey Smith, but it remains to be seen if the contracted Bulldogs star will request a trade or not, while Ollie Wines is another name that bobbed up on the rumour mill, but again seems unlikely to leave the Power.

Who’s going?

Versatile defender Esava Ratugolea has officially requested a trade to Port Adelaide. The out-of-contract 25-year-old played 16 games this year in his new role down back. The Cats hope to land a decent pick for the big man, who can also play forward and in the ruck. Brandan Parfitt is expected to see out his contract and fight for his spot despite managing just nine senior matches this year.

Gold Coast

Draft picks: 4, 29, 35, 43, 57, 61, 66, 69, 79

List changes: Jed Anderson (del), Connor Blakely (ret), Charlie Constable (ret), Brodie McLaughlin (del)

Who’s coming?

It’s all about the draft for the Suns this year with a trio of gun academy prospects set to join the club. They will trade out pick No.4 to gain more points to match the incoming bids for key forward Jed Walter, ruck Ethan Read and midfielder Jake Rogers.

Who’s going?

There could be a bit of movement here with a number of fringe players likely to depart. Mabior Chol fell out of favour this year and, despite being contracted, he appears likely to leave. Chris Burgess will be another to depart after requesting a trade to Adelaide, while Elijah Hollands is a strong change to join brother Ollie at Carlton.

GWS Giants

Draft picks: 6, 15, 54, 72, 74, 90

List changes: Phil Davis (ret), Cameron Fleeton (del), Jason Gillbee (del), Daniel Lloyd (ret)

Who’s coming?

Not much to see here with the Giants’ list in great shape after falling just one point short of beating Collingwood and making the grand final. The Giants are courting contacted Crow Elliott Himmelberg in the hope of uniting the versatile tall with brother Harry.

Who’s going?

Ruck Matt Flynn appears a certainty to leave after falling behind breakout big man Kieren Briggs in the pecking order. He has been strongly linked to West Coast. With Flynn set to depart, injury-cursed big man Braydon Preuss is likely to stay despite barely getting on the park in his two seasons at GWS.

Hawthorn

Draft picks: 3, 30, 49, 78

List changes: Emerson Jeka (del), Max Lynch (ret), Josh Morris (del), Fionn O’Hara (del)

Who’s coming?

The Hawks made a big play for free agent Ben McKay and were also in the mix for Esava Ratugolea, but missed out on both. They do look set to land Massimo D’Ambrosio from Essendon after offering the speedy defender a multi-year deal. With Jacob Koschitzke set to depart, the Hawks are a strong chance to secure Mabior Chol from Gold Coast.

Who’s going?

Jacob Koschitzke has requested a trade to Richmond in a blow to the club’s key position stocks. Flashy forward Tyler Brockman is another expected to depart with West Coast in the box seat to lure the West Australian back to his home state. There’s also a watch on another West Australian in Denver Grainger-Barras, who has failed to cement a spot in the best 22 since being taken with pick No.6 in the 2020 draft.

Melbourne

Draft picks: 5, 13, 25, 33, 88

List changes: Luke Dunstan (ret), Michael Hibberd (ret), Deakyn Smith (del)

Who’s coming?

The Demons will add some firepower up forward with Shane McAdam requesting a trade from Adelaide. Melbourne are often busy pick traders and could make a play for Gold Coast’s pick No.4 or even West Coast’s pick No.1.

Who’s going?

Clayton Oliver’s name has come up as a bombshell possibility after a troubled 2023 season. The superstar mid has also said he’s open to a move, despite contracted until 2030. There will also be a lot of action with Brodie Grundy. Expect the ruck to join Sydney after his much-publicised one-year experiment with Max Gawn failed. Free agent James Jordon will join Sydney, while contracted midfielder James Harmes is also tipped to seek a fresh start.

North Melbourne

Draft picks: 2, 14, 19, 40, 52, 60, 77

List changes: Ben Cunnington (ret), Jacob Edwards (del), Aaron Hall (ret), Daniel Howe (ret), Flynn Perez (del), Phoenix Spicer (del), Lachie Young (del), Jack Ziebell (ret)

Who’s coming?

The Roos are armed with three extra first-round picks after receiving an assistance package from the AFL, and are expected to land pick No.3 for departing free agent Ben McKay. The two 2024 picks are slated for review next year so expect North to trade them this year. Sydney winger Dylan Stephens will join the Roos and is expected to be joined by contracted Blue Zac Fisher. The Roos could get creative in a bid to move up to pick No.1 and snatch the prodigiously talented Harley Reid.

Who’s going?

The Roos are set to let restricted free agent Ben McKay walk to Essendon and land pick No.3 as compensation. Veteran ruckman Todd Goldstein will also join the Bombers after leaving the Roos with their blessing.

Port Adelaide

Draft picks: 38, 44, 71, 89

List changes: Nathan Barkla (del), Riley Bonner (del), Trent Dumont (del), Tom Jonas (ret), Brynn Teakle (del)

Who’s coming?

The Power have three likely inclusions, but not much draft capital to get the deals done. Geelong key big man Esava Ratugolea, Essendon defender Brandon Zerk-Thatcher and Western Bulldogs ruckman Jordon Sweet have all requested trades to the club. How the Power get all three done remains to be seen, but expect their future first-round pick to be on the table.

Who’s going?

With three players coming in and seemingly no first-team players wanting out, things could get interesting. Ruck Scott Lycett could be on the move after reportedly receiving a lowball offer from the Power. Tom Clurey is contracted for another two years, but only managed one senior game this year and, with two key defenders coming in, it’s hard to see how he remains in the Power’s plans.

Richmond

Draft picks: 26, 45, 63, 81

List changes: Kaelan Bradtke (del), Jason Castagna (ret), Trent Cotchin (ret), Jack Riewoldt (ret), Robbie Tarrant (ret)

Who’s coming?

Hawthorn key forward Jacob Koschitzke has requested a trade to the Tigers and will likely replace retired great Jack Riewoldt in the forward line. Could new coach Adem Yze lure contracted Demon James Harmes, who is exploring his options, to the Tigers?

Who’s going?

Not a lot to see here as the Tigers continue to transition follow the retirements of club greats Trent Cotchin and Jack Riewoldt. Superstar Dustin Martin was spotted catching up with new Gold Coast coach Damien Hardwick, but appears unlikely to leave. Ivan Soldo has been linked to Port Adelaide as well.

St Kilda

Draft picks: 12, 32, 51, 87

List changes: Oscar Adams (del), Jack Bytel (del), Leo Connolly (del), Jack Peris (del)

Who’s coming?

Talented wing Liam Henry will arrive from Fremantle in a decent coup for the Saints. They are also likely to land Paddy Dow from Carlton in another boost to their midfield stocks. Could yet make a play for Essendon gun Dylan Shiel, but there’s a bit to play out there.

Who’s going?

Free agent Jade Gresham appears set to land at Essendon, although the Saints’ compensation pick and pursuit of Dylan Shiel could come into play. There’s uncertainty surrounding the future of Hunter Clark, who is coming off arguably his best year to date. The talented midfielder was linked to North Melbourne last year and remains out of contract. Fellow top-10 pick from the 2017 draft Nick Coffield is also without a new deal and could seek a fresh start elsewhere.

Sydney

Draft picks: 11, 23, 31, 42, 50, 86

List changes: Lance Franklin (ret), Tom Hickey (ret), Paddy McCartin (ret)

Who’s coming?

The Swans will be busy players this year as they look to land Brodie Grundy from Melbourne. They might only need to part ways for pick 23 or 31 to secure the dual All-Australian ruck. The Swans look set to also boost their defensive and midfield stocks with unrestricted free agents Joel Hamling and James Jordon. They are also in the mix for wantaway Blue Paddy Dow, and made a big play for Tom Barrass, although the Eagle appears likely to stay.

Who’s going?

Winger Dylan Stephens has requested a trade to North Melbourne, but the Swans don’t appear to be losing anyone else.

West Coast

Draft picks: 1, 20, 34, 39, 53, 58, 76

List changes: Greg Clark (del), Luke Foley (del), Shannon Hurn (ret), Nic Naitanui (ret), Xavier O’Neill (del), Samo Petrevski-Seton (del), Luke Shuey (ret), Connor West (del), Isiah Winder (del)

Who’s coming?

The rebuilding Eagles will add Tyler Brockman from the Hawks and are pushing hard for Lions midfielder Dev Robertson. With the No.1 pick in the pre-season draft, the Eagles can leverage that and potentially land one for nothing if they wished. The Eagles also look set to secure Giants ruck Matt Flynn.

Who’s going?

Veterans Shannon Hurn, Luke Shuey and Nic Naitanui have all retired, but there are still rumblings the Eagles could part with another experienced player to fast-track their rebuild. Tom Barrass was linked to Sydney throughout the year, while rival clubs could make a play for Elliot Yeo or Andrew Gaff.

Western Bulldogs

Draft picks: 10, 17, 37, 64, 67, 85

List changes: Josh Bruce (ret), Mitch Hannan (del), Robbie McComb (del), Tim O’Brien (del), Cody Raak (del)

Who’s coming?

Haven’t really been linked to any major names as of yet, but have set their sights on Gold Coast’s pick No.4. The Suns will look at splitting the pick for more points and the Dogs are best placed to move up.

Who’s going?

Back-up ruckman Jordon Sweet has requested a trade to Port Adelaide, but the Power will likely prioritise other targets first. Fringe players Hayden Crozier and Buku Khamis could also depart the Kennel. There are rumours surrounding Bailey Smith, but it would be a massive shock if the Dogs traded the superstar midfielder who has said he wants to stay at the club.
