4 charged in Scarborough-area carjacking probe

Three male youths, aged 17, and an 18-year-old woman have been charged in connection with a series of attempted carjackings and an actual carjacking in Scarborough.

Toronto Police said officers responded last Friday, April 19 at 7:13 p.m. to a robbery call in the Finch Ave. E.-Warden Ave. area.

It’s alleged that the victim was entering their vehicle when a male suspect approached wearing a mask, grabbed the victim’s purse and a struggle ensued.

It’s further alleged the suspect took the victim’s keys and entered the victim’s vehicle as the pair continued to struggle before the suspect dropped the keys and fled the area.

The next day, Saturday, April 20 at about 3 p.m., police responded to a robbery call in the Sheppard Ave. E.-Morningside Ave. area.

It’s alleged that the victim was exiting their vehicle when a male suspect wearing a mask produced a handgun and demanded the vehicle keys.

It’s further alleged the suspect took the keys and began to enter the vehicle. A struggled ensued between the victim and suspect and a nearby witness offered help, causing the suspect to flee the area.

Later that same day at 7:58 p.m., police responded to a person with a gun call in the Sheppard Ave. E.-Kennedy Rd. area.

It’s alleged the victim was entering their vehicle when a male suspect wearing a mask grabbed and began assaulting the victim before producing a handgun.

The suspect then entered the victim’s vehicle and fled the scene

The next day, on Sunday, April 21 at 8:53 p.m., police responded to a suspicious incident call in the Finch Ave. E.-Midland Ave. area.

It’s alleged four male suspects wearing masks travelling in a previously stolen vehicle approached the victim as they were entering their vehicle and demanded the vehicle keys.

It’s further alleged a struggle ensued and the victim was struck in the back of the head and the suspects took the victim’s backpack and then drove in the previously stolen vehicle.

One of the suspects was identified as a male, 17, of Ajax. He faces 22 charges including 11 counts of fail to comply release order.

On Wednesday, officers located a victim’s previously stolen vehicle and saw several occupants inside.

Authorities approached the vehicle and took three suspects into custody. It was later determined that two of the suspects were involved in the April 21 carjacking.

Iyanna Eunick, 18, of Toronto, was charged with possession of property obtained by crime over.
