Young man killed as car ploughs through fence and crashes into Sydney home

A young man has been killed after a car crashed into a house in Sydney’s southwest.

Ismail Hossain, a university student aged in his 20s, was outside the home on Cornelia St, Wiley Park when he was hit by the car just before 12.30am on Monday.

It is believed the Toyota Corolla veered off the road, ploughed through a fence, and struck the front of the home.

It is not yet known what caused the car to veer off the road.

7NEWS understands Hossain was a friend of the driver and was directing him when the accident occurred.

Despite the efforts of first responders, Hossain could not be revived and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Locals told 7NEWS they heard a loud bang, followed by heart-wrenching screams during the incident.

“We just heard a loud noise … like someone was hitting a house,” a resident said.

“We got outside and heard crying … and we were scared of what happened so we called emergency and just waited.”

The driver of the car, a 24-year-old man, was arrested at the scene and taken to hospital for mandatory testing.

He was later taken to Campsie Police Station where he was charged with negligent driving occasioning death.

He was refused bail and will appear at Parramatta Bail Court on Monday.

A crime scene has been established.
