Woman to face Brisbane court over crash that seriously injured Greens MP Amy MacMahon

A woman has been served a notice to appear in court over a crash that seriously injured Queensland Greens MP Amy MacMahon.

South Brisbane MP MacMahon remains in hospital after the two-car collision at a busy Brisbane intersection on February 12.

Police allege MacMahon’s Toyota Prius was struck by a Hyundai i30 at the intersection of Baines St and Main St in Kangaroo Point.

Witnesses said the Hyundai driver “ran through a red light at speed”, state Greens leader Michael Berkman said.

MacMahon was treated for head and suspected spinal injures and taken to Princess Alexandra Hospital.

A 26-year-old Moorooka woman who was allegedly driving the Hyundai was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

Police said the young woman has now been served with a notice to appear in court for dangerous driving causing grievous bodily harm.

She is expected to appear in Brisbane Magistrate’s Court on March 14.
