Woman dies day after fire destroys home in Dubbo, NSW

A woman has died in hospital a day after a fire tore through a home in NSW’s Central West.

NSW Police said emergency services including Fire and Rescue NSW were called to the home on Freshwater Drive, Dubbo, after reports of a fire about 4pm on Thursday.

A 33-year-old woman was pulled from the house unconscious and was treated by paramedics at the scene before she was taken to Dubbo Base Hospital in a critical condition.

Police said they were notified the woman had died in hospital about 6.40pm on Friday.

One firefighter was treated for smoke inhalation and was taken to hospital for assessment and observation.

Two police officers also presented to hospital and were treated for smoke inhalation.

Police said the blaze was extinguished but that the home was destroyed.

A crime scene has been established and has been externally examined, however police said further forensic examination will not commence until it is “structurally safe to do so”.

The cause of the fire is yet to be determined by police.

Police are preparing a report for the coroner.
