(NewsNation) — If Sean “Diddy” Combs is denied bail ahead of Thanksgiving, the music mogul will spend the holiday at Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center.
Former federal prosecutor Maria Cruz Melendez says it’s likely Combs won’t be released.
“The judge is weighing whether or not the defendant is going to flee, or whether or not Combs is a danger to the community as a whole,” Melendez said during a Monday appearance on “Banfield.” “Both sides have put very passionate arguments forward, and obviously, whenever there’s new legal arguments, the judge has to consider it.”
Combs has pleaded not guilty to charges he “led a racketeering conspiracy that engaged in sex trafficking, forced labor, kidnapping, arson, bribery, and obstruction of justice, among other crimes. “
Combs is currently seeking to be placed on house arrest through a $50 million bail package.
He has remained incarcerated pending a May 5 trial after two judges denied bail in rulings being appealed to the 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals.
In addition to criminal charges, Combs is also facing multiple lawsuits from women who say he abused them and forced them to participate in sex acts against their will.
