What’s The Worst American Car Ever Made?

Is this just the worst Mustang, or is it also America’s worst car?

America has a long history building cars, with the first American automobile rolling onto the roads way back in 1893. Since then, automakers across the country have built some iconic cars like the Ford Mustang, Willys Jeep and the Corvette. Not every American automobile has such pedigree, however.

In fact, some American cars have been real stinkers over the years. These automotive blunders are the kinds of cars we want to uncover today as we’re asking you for your picks for the worst American cars every made. So, what have you got?

Maybe you’re of the opinion that the Edsel was a disgrace of monumental proportions and deserved all of its failings. Alternatively, you might still believe that the Pontiac Aztek was an utter monstrosity thanks to its awful stylings and the fact that it paved the way for the modern SUVs that are now clogging our highways.

That’s before we even think about the modern cars being assembled Stateside. Do you know anyone that actually wants a Cybertruck? And did we all just forget about the bland bombshell that is the Dodge Hornet? What happened to America!

Personally I think a good pick would be the Ford Pinto thanks to its penchant for bursting into flames, however a better pick would be the second-generation Mustang, which was based on the same platform. The Mustang II had some pretty big shoes to fill after the wild success of Ford’s first muscle car, but didn’t manage to match up on almost any level. Maybe it was the anticipation and excitement that killed this one, or maybe it really was just a bad car, we may never know.

But that’s just my suggestion, what car would you pick as the worst American car of all time? Head to the comments section below to let us know, and we’ll round up some of the worst offenders in a slideshow next week.
