I still find flying to be a very exciting affair. You get to pick your seats, watch TV in the back of a chair and soar above the clouds while you soak in the view of the ground below. The food might be a bit iffy, but on the whole it’s great. There is, however, one big disadvantage with any air travel: you have to pass through an airport.

That one- to two-hour period where you’re queuing at check-in, queuing at security or searching the terminal for a decent cup of coffee is awful no matter where in the world you are. Sure, places like Palm Springs and (rather unexpectedly) Jaipur have some pretty lovely airports that improve the experience a bit, but most airports are awful.

However, one airport has got to be the worst there is, right? So, which do you think it is?

Whether it’s a small, rural airport that left you waiting out in the cold for a flight, or a busy city-center hub that lost your luggage, delayed your flight and charged you extra for everything you asked for, we want to uncover the worst airports you’ve ever traveled through. So, what have you got?

Personally, I have never been a fan of JFK or Newark in New York. They both feel dated and efficient compared to other airports in other major metropolises, but I don’t know that I’d stretch to calling either the worst in the world, would you?

What about you, what airport would you nominate as the worst there is? Head to the comments section below to let us know the worst airport you’ve ever traveled through and we’ll round up some of the top offenders in a slideshows soon.
