We all like to think that we’re great at playing cars, right? We’re grown ups who’ve learned a lot about cars over the years, but do you know the best way to learn more about cars? Make mistakes around cars.

It’s a well known fact that all the best people learn from their mistakes. So today, we want to uncover the dumbest mistakes you’ve made in your car so that we can all come together and grow as car fans. So, what have you got?

Maybe it’s a mistake you made when it came to picking out the wheels with which to fill you garage. Did you part ways with an excellent M car that you never should have, or did you add a Gladiator to your garage and now you’re worried whether or not it may burst into flames.

Alternatively, it might be a mistake you made behind the wheel, like a wrong turn that led you down a whole road of troubles or a race you once ran that didn’t end the way you’d hoped. This is the path my big mistake lies, after I attempted to drive through a snow drift while heading out to meet the mountain rescue for a shoot I was working on. At least there was a pack of burley men with Land Rovers nearby to help me out.

Then there are all the wrenching mistakes we’ve made while growing as mechanics or the ill advice that we’ve headed while developing as car fans. So, what big mistakes have you made with, in or around your cars over the years?

Whether it’s an optional extra you ticked, a modification you made or a driving stunt that went wrong, we’d love to hear about it. So head to the comments below to let us know the dumbest mistakes you’ve ever made with your cars. We’ll round up some of the top suggestions in a slideshow next week.
