Who doesn’t love a sports sedan? They’re able to mix together a lot of the fun-to-drive aspects of a sports car with enough practicality to bring your friends along for the ride as well. I for one am a big fan, but I’ll admit that not all are created equally. Some stand head and shoulders above the rest. And that is what leads me to today’s question.
I want to know what you think is the best sports sedan of all time. Over the decades, there has been no shortage of sporty sedans, so you really shouldn’t have any trouble coming up with your favorite (unless you really cannot choose). I’m not going to be too picky here. I just need you to pick a sporty car with four doors and a real trunk. NO LIFTBACKS. I don’t care what wheels power it, what transmission it has, how big the engine is or how old it is. If you like it, let me know down below.
Personally – and I know this is a weird one – but my favorite sports sedan of all time is probably the Lancia Thema 8.32. Not only was it a beautiful-looking car, it also had the benefit of a Ducati-built Ferrari 308-derived 3.0-liter 32-valve V8 motor that put out 215 horsepower. That was a really healthy number when it came out in the mid-1980s. The car also benefitted from the first-ever electrically deployable rear spoiler. How goddamn cool is that? Anyway, that’s my favorite sports sedan ever, and I don’t really care if you don’t like it.
What I do care about, however, is what sports sedans you like better than the Thema 8.32. So, why don’t you drop down below and let us all know what your favorite sports sedan of all time is? As always, bonus points will be awarded if you let your fellow Jalops know why your selection is your favorite sports sedan.
