We live in a world where car technology is not only cool but also wildly futuristic. Some cars have the ability to take on the bulk of driving tasks while others are packing in more horsepower than ever before. And yet, the world of the fictional, or imaginary, car is so much more fruitful than anything we could come up with in the real world. What imaginary car features do you wish were real?
Personally, I wish I could channel the noise of a horn into another car’s cabin.
I know a lot of people who say they’ve rarely ever used their horn to honk at other drivers. I am not one of those people. I may live down in Texas, but my heart resides firmly in the rude-ass throes of New York City traffic, and I will sound my horn at any motherfucker who dares cross me, because I want them to know they are terrible, shitty drivers.
However, I am not a total sadist. I would prefer not to bother my fellow drivers with the prolonged honk of a horn (because I am not a one-toot-and-done kind of gal; I am a long aggressive press person), and I definitely do not want to disturb the kind folks residing in the area who have done nothing to annoy me on the road. I really wish I could honk directly at the horrifying driving offender.
I admit that I’m no engineer, so I’m not completely sure how it would be feasible to project your honk at one single car. Maybe all new cars should be fitted with transponders, and I can launch a bluetooth honk directly into the cockpit of the guy who just merged in front of me without a signal. Maybe we could press an H button on our steering wheel, and a little Homing Device would launch from our Mach 5 and deposit a honk at the window of a shitty driver. Maybe we could harness the power of a sonic boom, but on a much smaller, horn-related scale. We have the technology, I’m sure.
But I’m sure many of you have imaginations that are not limited by thinking about how much of an annoyance you can be to your fellow drivers. I’m sure the great readers of Jalopnik-dot-com can devise a suite of incredible car features that currently only exist in dreams. Drop them into the comment section; maybe some enterprising engineer out there will make your dream come true.
