“Don Pyke had been looking at ways to offer support to first year senior coach Andrew McQualter. Worsfold provides that sounding board, adding decades of experience across the football.”

Worsfold will work with existing football managers Gavin Bell (AFL), Michelle Cowan (AFLW) and Steve Trewhella (WAFL).

“I am excited to be back at the West Coast Eagles as the club strives to progress into the next era of on-field success across all competitions,” Worsfold said.

“I have been fortunate to learn a lot in my time and role at Emeco group that has added to my AFL leadership experience. It will be an exciting period to work with some outstanding leaders across all competitions.”

The appointment comes a week after they announced Andrew McQualter as their new senior coach.

Worsfold played 209 games for the club, including two premierships in 1992 and 1994.

He later coached the club for 11 years that included the 2006 premiership, joining a select group of people to captain and coach a flag.

He also coached Essendon for five years before handing over the reins to Ben Rutten at the end of 2020 as part of a succession plan.
