Vogue’s behind-the-scenes video glimpse into Billie Eilish’s Hit Me Hard and Soft tour starts off not with a bang, but with a burp. “That wasn’t a good one. I felt like it would be,” admits Eilish as she makes her way through the Scotiabank Arena, stopping to show off her wardrobe room (“Super glamorous…we fit 40 looks in, like, two days”) and reminisce about the early days when she had to make all of her tour outfits herself while on the road. Filmed in Toronto, the video accompanies the 22-year-old-pop phenom’s November Vogue cover.
Eilish, who is the proud dog parent of celebrity pup Shark, is adjusting to a certain amount of change on her latest tour—“I have a full band, which I’ve never had. It’s always just been me and my brother,” Eilish reflects—but some things, like the nine-time Grammy winner’s prodigious piano talent (which you’ll see firsthand proof of in the video), never change. Clad in argyle sweats and her signature eyeglasses, Eilish gets in some last-minute rehearsal time just four hours before the show starts and discusses the power of performing, saying: “Imagine writing something that meant so much to you, and then an entire arena of people is shouting it back at you. It’s amazing.”
