Want to know if your partner is cheating? Top private investigator reveals warning signs of an unfaithful spouse

Staying out late at night, going to the gym, changes in appearance and dressing differently are all red flags when it comes to cheating spouses, according to private investigator Don Aviv.

New figures published by Sexual Health Australia, estimates suggest 70 per cent of all marriages will be hit by an affair at some point.

But on Thursday, Aviv joined Larry Emdur and Kylie Gillies on The Morning Show, and revealed the signs to watch.

“New haircut, new scent or changes in personality. Are they more argumentative? Less argumentative? Distant? Closer? Just anything that’s different than before,” Aviv said.

“Are they coming in early? Are they doing anything differently? Are they acting differently towards you, are they being very secretive about their phones?

“Are they hiding things that you normally would have a conversation about?”

Aviv said if you think your spouse is cheating, you can do your own investigation — such as checking their car, office clothing or phone.

He said you could also simply ask them outright.

However some investigators do offer loyalty testing services.

Avivi said they effectively worked to trick people into being unfaithful.

“Loyalty testers are very attractive investigators who whose job is to approach you at a bar, at a restaurant and flirt with you to see how whether you would go home with them,” Aviv said.

“Now, this is a bit unfair, because I’ll have to say, if we were to send an attractive male or female to you at a bar who was chatting, you up and flirting with you and showing significant interest. Who could withstand that? Most couldn’t.

“I don’t know how much of that is the fact that we’re sending a really gorgeous person to chat you up, or you’re open to cheating. So it’s a bit of both. That’s why we don’t put too much stock in them.”

Surprisingly, Aviv said people tend to cheat the same way they date.

“People are creatures of habit — so they tend to cheat the same way they dated,” he said.

“So if there’s a favourite restaurant, flowers, clubs, process in which they wooed you, that’s typically how they’re going to cheat on you with somebody else.”
