“I’m driven by real style and beauty,” the inimitable Phoebe Philo states on her Instagram. “My aim is to reveal and not to display women.” And so, the designer has done just that with her own brand, which is finally here after years of waiting since she first announced the news in 2021. Rather than calling it a collection, Philo is dubbing it “Edits,” which come in a series of three online releases. A1 will be available now until December, while A2 will be available through spring, and so on. And the only place you can ever shop it all is PhoebePhilo.com.
If you’re wondering what to shop first, consider the new formula Philo has presented in her debut launch: rounded shoulders, tailored trousers, and striking high heels. Editor favorites in particular include these aforementioned trousers, which have subtle tricks woven in. Think: regular looking pants that are then bisected by zippers all the way up the legs, so the wearer can subtly reveal or conceal. Deconstructed cargo pants come with bondage-straps slung toward the knee. And of course, there’s also the track pants and jeans options for everyday.
Fans of perennially quirky Philo-era Celine shoes will be very happy at the chance to pick up multiple pairs that riff on her original sense of oddness (never forget her Celine heels sculpted with faux toes and covered in red nail polish–or the pumps decked out in fluffy scarlet red and Big Bird-yellow fur). Here, Philo has taken the classic loafer and made it wide at the back with a narrow heel. Then, there’s fringed shoes as well as high stilettos.
Editor favorite accessories from the launch also include the big, beautiful scarves which button on and off. One can easily create drapes or turn them into wraps of all sorts. And there will be plenty of lush statement outerwear for everyone who craves it. Like Philo’s Celine era work–there’s a sense of real world ingenuity, so that you can style pieces how you want to wear them. Epic tailoring, leather jackets, and the full assortment of bags, sunglasses and even jewelry are all available. For the Philo-era Celine fans, there’s no lack of subtle ugly chic and humor. The whole thing is pure female gaze–and it feels like just the moment fashion has been waiting for. Everything is made in its own in-house atelier with standards that measure up to that of Paris’s great historic design houses.
With her namesake debut, Philo has once again mastered her anti-trend, seasonless sentiment. With a nod to sustainability, all pieces will be produced on a limited basis–which means things are sure to sell out quickly. So, what are you waiting for? Shop our favorite accessories from Phoebe Philo’s first “Edit” below—while you still can.
