Earlier this month, Michael B. Jordan, the actor known for his roles in “The Wire,” Creed and Black Panther, crashed his Ferrari 812 Superfast into a Kia Niro that was parked on the street. The Sunset Boulevard crash destroyed the front end of Jordan’s Ferrari and likely ruined the Kia owner’s day. After all, getting to meet a celebrity isn’t so great when it’s because they just totaled your car. Now, a newly released video of the crash raises even more questions about what the heck happened.
As you can see in the video below, Jordan’s 812 Superfast is driving alongside what appears to be a Ferrari 488. It swerves slightly to the left and then overcorrects to the right, smashing into the parked car. It’s been widely reported that he was street racing before the crash, and if that were the case, it would make a lot of sense.
If you look at the screen in the dashcam video, though, the Tesla is driving like 20 or 30 mph. The two Ferraris may have been driving faster, but it doesn’t appear that they were going significantly faster. Maybe Jordan floored it just before the crash and immediately lost control? That’s a possibility, but without any audio, it’s hard to tell.
Distracted driving seems a lot more likely. Maybe Jordan was using his phone while driving, dropped it, and when he went to retrieve it, swerved and hit a parked car. It’s hard to tell, and as we previously reported, neither Jordan nor anyone on his team has commented on the crash, so we don’t even have his side of the story. All we know is that the officers who responded to the crash did not find evidence that he was impaired by drugs or alcohol.
