Vanessa Williams quietly ended her marriage with businessman Jim Skrip in 2021.
The model and performer shared the relationship revelation in a new interview with People magazine, saying that life has been good since she became single.
Asked if she is currently romancing anyone, the “Ugly Betty” actor told People, “I’m doing what I love, and I’m in love with life.”
“There is not one person that I’m in love with, but I’m in love with everybody.”
Williams stressed how much she appreciates her independence now that she’s no longer in a relationship.
“I love my freedom,” she told the magazine. “I love being alive, having options in my life, and being surrounded by beautiful things, great people, and wonderful opportunities.”
Williams and Skrip got married on July 4, 2015, in Buffalo, New York, after first meeting on vacation in Egypt.
At the time, the star said she wasn’t exactly looking to be in a relationship, but was charmed when their tour guide introduced them.
Calling the romance an “unexpected” surprise in a 2019 interview with Glamour, she said, “I made the first move — he would never have approached me because I was with my daughter.”
Williams had high praise for Skrip in a 2016 interview with People where she told the magazine, “Jim is a real man.”
“You want somebody in your life who has integrity, who is solid, who knows who he is,” she added. “He’s romantic and he’s a great guy.”
William’s union with Skrip was her third marriage.
The star was married to film producer Roman Hervey II from 1987 to 1997 and shares three adult children with him: Melanie Hervey, Jillian Hervey and Devin Christian Hervey.
She and basketball player Rick Fox were wed from 1999 to 2004 and are the parents of daughter Sasha Gabriella Fox.
In her 2019 interview with Glamour, Williams described the respect she has for her exes, even after the relationships ended.
“I’ve been married three times, and all my husbands are good men,” she explained. “I wouldn’t have married them if they weren’t decent people.”
