Update after woman’s body found wrapped in plastic in bushland near Sydney Airport

A body wrapped in plastic and dumped in bush near Sydney Airport was discovered by a jogger in what police described as a “confronting” scene.

The body was found in bushland off Foreshore Rd, at Botany, about 7.30am on Monday, near Sir Joseph Banks Park.

“Officers attached to South Sydney Police Area Command are being assisted by specialist officers from the State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad,” NSW Police said.

Superintendent Danny Doherty said a member of the public called police after they found the body.

“The body has now been identified as a female’s … her identity is still unknown, and it is still early days in the investigation.

“The body was covered in plastic …in an attempt to hide the body, but the victim was only metres away from the side of the road.”

It is not yet known how long the body was at the site for, Doherty added.

“It is in a severe state of decomposition, so that makes the timeline a little bit difficult,” he said.

“We are seeking help from the public from anyone who may have seen something suspicious on Foreshore Dr.”

“At this stage, we are treating it as a suspicious death for obvious reasons.”
