Retiree Lydia Fong has been playing the lottery with OLG for about 20 years but this is her first big win.
“When I bought this ticket, it was the last one in the display case,” Fong told OLG. “The store clerk offered to open a new pack of tickets for me, but I was happy to take the last one.”
The last one turned out to be the lucky one.
“My husband and I went for coffee, and I decided to play my ticket,” Fong said.
“At first, I thought I had won $100, so I went back to the store to check it. When I saw the prize amount, I had to do a double take. I couldn’t believe what I was seeing, and neither could my husband. We were just in shock!”
Of her winning moment, Fong said: “It’s been wonderful. It was such a shock, but I’m so happy.”
Fong said she’s looking forward to travelling, sharing her windfall with her family, and enjoying her retirement.
The winning ticket was bought at Kitchen Food Fair on Bayview Ave. in Richmond Hill.
