Two Missouri cookie shops named among top 10 in US

ST. CHARLES, Mo. – If you’re looking for the best cookies in the country, they can be found right in the heart of St. Charles, Mo., according to USA Today.

Last week, it was announced that two cookie shops made the top 10 list of the best cookie’s in America, including in the number one spot.

Ranked as the sixth-best cookie spot is SugarBot Sweet Shop. Just a few streets away from Main Street St. Charles, this shop’s sweet treats are all made from scratch daily.

Owner Jackie Huebbe was determined when she quit her corporate job in 2010 to focus on baking that she would not follow other bakeries and use box mixes, artificial vanilla, shortcuts, and more. She was set on putting all her work towards fresh pastries to create “childhood favorites, better than you remember them,” which is the shop’s slogan.

Daily flavors at the SugarBot Sweet Shop include chocolate chip, double chocolate variety, sugar sprinkle, snickerdoodle, and oatmeal variety. Specialty flavors range from mint chocolate chip to chocolate-covered cherry oat, oatmeal butterscotch and more.

Coming in at first place is Grandma’s Cookies, sitting on Main Street St. Charles. The original store opened in 1976 when Charlotte Thompson lived on one side of the building and had a store of clothing and pastries on the other side. The sweet treats gathered a name of their own, which started Grandma’s Cookies.

The building has been through some transitions since its original opening but Theresa Rubio brought it back to its roots in 2010, where they continue to sell fresh baked cookies daily in the same home.

Main flavors include chocolate chip, coconut, double chocolate chip, M&M, oatmeal raisin, peanut butter, snickerdoodle, and sugar sprinkle. Special orders feature gluten-free options, coconut chocolate chip, and more.
