Two injured as allegedly stolen car runs into police officer before crashing on the Gold Coast

A car has hit a police officer before colliding with another car in Surfers Paradise on the Gold Coast.

The car, which is believed to be stolen, was spotted by police officers patrolling Surfers Paradise Boulevard on foot about 8.40pm on Friday.

After attempting to approach the car, the driver “accelerated forward, knocking one officer to the ground” and injuring him, Queensland police said in a statement.

The driver then collided with another car in front of them.

The driver of the second car, a 69-year-old woman, was transported to Gold Coast University Hospital in a stable condition.

The injured police officer, a male senior constable, was transported to Pindara Private Hospital.

A total of five occupants from the car were taken into custody, with the passengers ages ranging from 16 to 36.

The four adults were refused police bail and will appear in Southport Magistrates Court on Saturday.
