Travis Kelce Says It Was His Idea To Join Taylor Swift Onstage For Eras Tour Cameo

Travis Kelce says it was his idea to join girlfriend Taylor Swift onstage at an Eras Tour concert in London last week.

On Wednesday’s episode of his “New Heights” podcast, the Kansas City Chiefs player said he told Swift that it’d be funny if he appeared on a bicycle while the singer performed the song “Blank Space” during a show.

Swift apparently liked the idea of Kelce joining her in some way. But instead of riding a bike, Kelce ended up participating in a skit in which dancers try to revive a collapsed Swift before she performs “I Can Do It With a Broken Heart.”

“I had so much fun,” Kelce said, calling it an “honor” to be onstage with Swift.

Kelce, who carried the pop star in his arms during the skit, said his one goal was to not drop her.

“The one thing I told myself is, do not drop the baby,” he said, before recalling some words of advice from Eric Bieniemy, a former Chiefs coach.

“Coach Bieniemy always used to say: ‘That ball has our dreams, goals and aspirations. You do not drop that ball.’”

Elsewhere on the podcast, Kelce talked with his brother, former Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce, about the energy on Swift’s Eras Tour, including how much fun it is to be in a VIP tent with celebrities like Hugh Grant, Ashton Kutcher and others.

“Everybody was having fun in that tent,” Jason Kelce said, recalling that Grant had taken his child with him to the show.

“The kids that are in there, mixed with the grown adults that are acting like kids, it just leads to this energy that’s so infectious, you can’t help — it really comes down to just the magic of the show in general.”
