Perth man Craig Laidley’s body has been found, days after being swept out to sea while assisting a distressed swimmer in rough seas.
The 56-year-old was walking along Balian Beach — a few hours northwest of Kuta on the west coast of Bali — about 4.15pm on Wednesday when he heard German man Micro Stalla, 29, calling out for help.
Laidley rushed into the water to save the fellow tourist.

While he helped Stalla back to shore, he never made it back himself.
The pair reached some rocks, but witnesses say just as Stalla was pulled to safety a wave took Laidley, and he was swept back out to sea.
A massive search was launched after there was no sign of him, involving at least 10 Denpasar Search and Rescue personnel who scoured both land and sea.
Laidley’s two brothers, Bruce and Glenn, arrived in Bali overnight to join the search.
Laidley’s body was found on the beach on Friday morning by searchers.
His family in Perth are still coming to terms with the loss, but are proud of his heroic rescue.
They told 7NEWS they were glad his brothers were there to bring him home.
