Toteme, a Favorite of Fashion Minimalists, Is Launching Jewelry

Toteme, the Swedish fashion brand from Elin Kling and Karl Lindman known for its minimal aesthetic, is expanding into jewelry. “I always had a vision to design complementary pieces to our collections,” says Kling, the label’s creative director. “It feels very exciting to finally be able to offer our first line of jewelry.”

Since Toteme’s beginning in 2014, Kling and Lindman have positioned the label as a resource providing a curated uniform for the modern woman. They’ve had success with extensions into shoes (in 2019) and bags (2022), so jewelry was a natural next step. The 13 pieces in the initial collection, with new additions to released bi-annually, offer the architectural quality and the elevated simplicity the duo specialize in.

The designs, says Kling, “complement an effortless way of dressing,” while also “making a statement.” Neither oversized nor overpowering in color or concept, they include delicate chain link necklaces, diamond studded cigar band rings, and enamel bangles.

The brand’s expansion comes amidst similar moves by luxury brands that see opportunities beyond the fashion jewelry that goes down the runways (Prada and Saint Laurent among them). Kling has approached the category as a lover of jewelry herself. “Jewelry has always had an emotional resonance for me,” she says. “Some of my most treasured items are the understated vintage pieces that I wear everyday.” The launch includes both fashion and fine jewelry options that range in price from $420 to $2,700.

What’s Kling’s must-have piece? Two come to mind: “The enamel bracelets, I like the idea of collecting them over time,” she says. “[And] the cigar ring worn over your knuckles is another favorite, [it] plays perfectly next to my wedding bands.”
