Toronto man facing weapon charges after North York argument

A 30-year-old Toronto man is facing numerous firearm charges after an incident in North York.

Toronto Police said they were called on Sunday just before midnight for reports of a person with a gun in the Steeles Ave. W.-Norfinch Dr. area, where two people had gotten into an argument.

Police said the victim was pushed and a firearm allegedly fell out of the suspect’s clothing. Officers located a suspect nearby when they arrived and pursued him on foot before an arrest was made. A  firearm was allegedly found.

Harris Baffoe-Boadu, 30, of Toronto, is charged with failing to comply with a release order, carrying a concealed weapon, possession of a firearm while prohibited and seven other offences.

2 CUFFED ON DRUG, WEAPON CHARGES

Two people are facing drug and weapon charges after an alleged assault in North York led to several search warrants being executed across the GTA.

Toronto Police said they responded on Sunday at about 1:15 a.m. to reports of a person with a gun in the Jane St.-Finch Ave. area, where witnesses allegedly saw a suspect assaulting a victim beside a vehicle while holding a firearm.

Police said they later found the vehicle in the Islington Ave.-Rexdale Blvd. area and arrested two people. Illicit drugs, cash, an overcapacity magazine and several other types of ammunition were also allegedly seized.

Police said they also found a firearm, another overcapacity magazine, a “large amount” of ammunition and about $15,000 in cash after executing search warrants in Toronto and Brampton.

Richard Brewster, 27, of Toronto, is charged with unauthorized possession of a firearm, occupying a motor vehicle with a firearm, possession of a firearm while prohibited, possession of a schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking, three counts of assault and other offences.

Kayla McFarlane, 28, of Brampton, is charged with possession of a schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking, unauthorized possession of a firearm, and other offences.
