Tim Walz Makes 1 Crucial Promise About Liz And Dick Cheney

Jon Stewart elicited a critical promise about U.S. foreign policy from Democratic vice presidential candidate Tim Walz during a discussion about former Vice President Dick Cheney’s backing of Kamala Harris over GOP nominee Donald Trump in the 2024 election.

Both Cheney, who served as vice president in George W. Bush’s Republican administration, and his daughter, former Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.), have come out in support of Democratic candidate Harris.

Stewart, though, who is no fan of the elder Cheney, asked Walz on Monday’s episode of “The Daily Show,” “The Cheney thing, do we really have to do that?”

Walz talked about the support for Harris being a “big tent” and name checked progressive Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) and pop star Taylor Swift as also being involved.

Said Stewart, “You can’t Dick Cheney or Taylor Swift.”

“What country did Taylor Swift get us to invade? No,” the comedian later said.

Dick Cheney was one of the architects of the Iraq war.

Walz countered, “I think Liz Cheney and Dick Cheney give permission to those folks who want to find a reason to do the right thing. It doesn’t mean they agree with us. We’re not going to take their foreign policy decisions and discussions and implement those.”

“Promise?” asked Stewart.

“Yes, promise,” replied Walz. “Promise.”

Stewart checked, “Any of those things?”

“It’s a stressful time,” said Walz. Stewart agreed.
