This Used Lordstown Endurance Makes Buying A Fisker Ocean Look Smart And Responsible In Comparison

Buying a Fisker Ocean right now is probably a terrible idea. Bankruptcy is looming, the factory isn’t building any more of them and even the cars themselves are having all kinds of problems. And yet, somehow, buying a Fisker Ocean isn’t the worst electric vehicle you could spend your money on. No, that honor goes to the incredibly rare — and not in the desirable way — 2023 Lordstown Endurance that’s currently listed for sale over on Cars & Bids.

We knew a handful of Endurance pickup trucks were allegedly produced before the whole bankruptcy thing happened, but we just assumed they’d been scrapped. As it turns out, at least one of them still exists, and you can buy it if you really want to. We’re going to strongly suggest, however, that you don’t. It’s not clear how many Endurances were ever produced, but knowing Lordstown had only built about 40 trucks as recently as March 2023, we can’t imagine total production is much higher than that.

If we were talking about something truly desirable and collectible, low production numbers can be a good thing. In this case, you’re just asking for headache after headache if you buy a truck that no one is going to want to work on even if they technically could. If you’re going to buy an EV, it would also probably help if there was a company out there that still provides software updates.

You also can’t forget the fact that the Endurance only has 165 miles of range. A sub-200-mile range works for city cars, but with a truck, you’re probably going to want more range. Not that the range really matters. According to the listing, the Endurance “does not have a title and will be sold with a bill of sale only. As a result, the vehicle cannot be registered for street use.” So unless you’ve got a good bit of land or are a sovereign citizen who won’t register it in the first place, you won’t even get to drive it anywhere. Then again, what use is a farm truck that’s going to be hard to work on and get parts for?

Which is why the obvious thing to do here is for all of you to help me convince Rory to buy the Lordstown Endurance so we can abuse the shit out of it. There’s no telling what it will finally sell for, but we’ll definitely make it all back with that sweet YouTube ad revenue. In fact, if you think about it, Rory would basically be losing money if he didn’t buy this truck. It’s just basic math.
