Field and Gillespie’s performance left a smile on little Zahra’s face, with the youngster even participating in the dance from her bed.
Zahra was battling Leigh syndrome, a rare inherited neurometabolic disorder that affects the central nervous system.
A TikTok video of the emotional moment, which has had more than 1.5 million views, was shared by Zahra’s mother who wrote, “On Zahra’s last day she got a special visit from her fav Wiggles”.
“This day was so special to us.
“Zahra was obsessed with the Wiggles and for them to come and see her is a memory we will never forget”.
Field, the newest blue Wiggle and daughter of Anthony Field, commented: “Lachy and I were so grateful to have met your beautiful family. May your beautiful little girl be happily resting”.
Others took to the comments to react to the devastating footage.
“I can’t handle it. I’m so sorry… my heart breaks for you,” one said.
“I can’t even imagine. I’m so sorry,” said a second.
Another wrote, “I’m crying, such a beautiful moment 💕 thank you for sharing mama 🥺💕 I’m so sorry for your loss.”
According to Zahra’s TikTok account, the family’s “lives changed forever” on April 3 after the toddler “was taken to emergency because she was going blue in her sleep”.
An MRI showed inflammation on her brain stem and she was taken to ICU.
After Zahra began to improve, the family was allowed to “go home with a bipap machine”, which is a non-invasive breathing support.
But the toddler “then started to decline in her breathing and swallowing”.
On May 23, the little girl was diagnosed with Leigh syndrome and doctors told her parents that their young daughter “wouldn’t make it off the breathing tube”.
Zahra had “one full day” off the tube where she got to do “all her favourite things with family and friends” – including the Wiggles’ special performance.
The toddler “returned to Allah an angel” on June 14.
