It takes more than just the latest fashions to catch the eye of Acielle Tanbetova, who has been shooting street style for over a decade as Style du Monde, the last for us truly at Vogue Runway. Tanbetova’s vibe can best be described as editorial; she likes to photograph subjects against an uncluttered background so that their style and personality remain the focus. It’s not surprising that her photos are fan favorites on social media platforms—especially Pinterest.
We caught up with Tanbetova to find out who caught her attention this year. She called out the on-the-rise models Akito Mizutani and Amelia Gray Hamlin for their off-duty style and up-for-anything attitudes—you can always spot them waving in Tanbetova’s videos from outside the shows. (Want to be a street style star? Being polite counts!) The influencer Clara Perlmutter (aka Tiny Jewish Girl) also got a mention. “She has a talent for seamlessly blending fabrics and textures in a truly captivating manner,” says Tanbetova.
Models and influencers—they’re everywhere at the shows. Professors are a rarer breed. And professors who wear independent Antwerp brands like Yvonne Schitel are the rarest of all. Topping Tanbetova’s list is Brandon Wen, the creative director of the legendary Royal Antwerp Academy of Fine Arts’s Fashion Department (where the Antwerp Six designers studied). “Wen’s looks speak for themselves,” she says.
