The Morning Show co-host Kylie Gillies has shared a heartfelt tribute to her husband Tony for Valentine’s Day, opening up about his “kindness and selflessness”.
Although Kylie’s post was a love letter to her husband, the first image she shared was actually of herself with son Gus, whom she visited recently in Europe.

“This is a Valentine’s post. Not about our eldest Gus, but about his Dad, whose kindness and selflessness meant this photo could even be taken,” Kylie’s post began.
“I hadn’t seen Gus in seven months. He’s been in Europe holidaying and working.
“I missed him and in the post-Xmas break of The Morning Show there was a small window I could fly to Vienna to see him.
“Tony didn’t hesitate. He said ‘Go. Just do it. I’ll hold down the fort here. I want you to’.”
Kylie said there were a few family commitments at home and their other son, Archie, was also about to head off overseas for a short time.
“But Tone was adamant I do it (visit Gus),” she wrote.
“It’s not that we need each other’s permission to do something.
“But we’re a team. And flying solo felt a little off kilter. Selfish even.
“But it filled my heart. As Tony knew it would.”
Kylie went on to explain that the second photo, of Kylie and her son hanging out together, was her favourite of her whole trip to see Gus.
“I cooked chicken soup for Gus before his work shift,” she wrote.
“Mum stuff, that’s hard to do when your son is 16,000 kilometres away. It was worth the plane ticket just to cook for him.
“So I reckon Tony is ‘paid-in-full’ for Valentine’s ‘till the end of time.
“And this is my love letter to him xx ❤️ (Also, I haven’t bought him any chocolates!)“
Kylie’s third photo was of herself and Tony hugging.
Followers loved the post, calling it “beautiful” and “amazing”.
“Such a beautiful post, words and photos,” one fan wrote.
“You and Tony are a beautiful couple. Precious family.”
“You deserve it and your lovely husband is very special,” wrote another.
“What a team.”
Another noted that Kylie’s trip to Vienna had inspired her to travel.
“Thank you for the photos, hubby and I booked Vienna and Berlin for our Winter Xmas this year,” the fan said.
“We travel a lot but yet to visit those countries, we were so inspired – thank you 👏.”
One follower shared their own experience of travelling overseas to visit a much-missed son.
“Yep did the same in 2013, son moved to NYC, for six months couldn’t get work / living room to room / wanted to come home,” the follower wrote.
“So over I went for 10 days, he still says best holiday ever!
“Regardless of their age.”
A third added: “I will be lost when my boys fly the nest when they are big and grown.
“Breaks my heart even thinking about it. I bet Gus loved having you there ❤️.”
Kylie kept her Instagram followers updated as she visited Gus and they explored Vienna and Berlin together.
Sharing a selfie with Gus, both rugged up for the European winter, Kylie wrote: “Auf Wiedersehen Berlin. You were wunderbar.”
“48-hour side-trip with Gus to this incredible city,” she added.
“Beautiful, historic … cold!”
Just days earlier, she had a joyful reunion with Gus in Vienna, sharing a sweet photo of the pair hugging as they reunited.
‘Good shipmates’
Writing about her husband in May last year on their 34th wedding anniversary, Kylie shared a series of throwback pictures of a day out on a boat, saying they made “good shipmates”.
“34 years married today. Jeez,” she wrote.
“I went looking for pics and came across these. From 2021.
“And I think the sequence sums up our marriage pretty well. Me. Phaffing around. Adding colour and movement. And just being generally annoying.
“And Tony. Calm, steadfast, steering the ship.
“Confident and keeping us safe.
“After 34 years we’re carrying a few barnacles darl, but I reckon we still make good shipmates.
“Happy anniversary.”
