Glitz and glamour are omnipresent on the Hollywood red carpets—but around the holiday season, that sense of drama is only heightened. This week, the best dressed stars were those who leaned into festive fashion, choosing designs with tulle, embroidery, and sequins that made for entirely fabulous finishes. One of the most-discussed looks of the week that fit the bill, for instance? It was Apple Martin’s custom blue Valentino gown for Le Bal des Débutantes in Paris: Her fairytale-worthy dress, made of tiered silk plissé chiffon, took over 750 hours of work to complete.
A sense of whimsy appeared on other standout looks this week. In London, Moana 2 star Auli’i Cravalho shined in her tulle Oscar de la Renta gown adorned with floral embroidery—like a wearable floral arrangement. Also in London, Gemma Chan looked elegant in her floral Erdem dress with asymmetrical draping, worn to the Vogue: Inventing the Runway screening. Hoyeon, meanwhile, went for a dramatic bubble-hem silhouette in Osaka, while attending the 2024 MAMA Awards; her Louis Vuitton dress took up space, in the best possible way.
Some more pared-back ensembles also made an impact this week, however. On Jimmy Fallon, Jodie Turner-Smith proved a classic black suit will never go out of style—especially when it comes with dramatic shoulders, courtesy of her Balmain design. In L.A., Pamela Anderson went minimalist in her Ferragamo look, consisting of a high-neck white shirt and pencil skirt. When in doubt, a sleek black-and-white pairing always does the trick.
