Telstra customers hit with plan price increases

Telstra customers are set to pay more for mobile postpaid and pre-paid plans, and pre-paid mobile broadband services.

Most plans will increase between $2 and $4 per month progressively from August 27.

Customers on postpaid plans will pay the increased fees from this time.

  • The Basic Plan will increase in price by $3, from $62 to $65 per month.
  • The Essential Plan will also increase by $3, from $72 to $75.
  • The Premium Plan will increase by $4, from $95 to $99.
  • The Bundle Plan will increase by $2, from $50 to $52.

However, the postpaid Starter Plan price will remain unchanged and its data allowance will rise from 2GB to 5GB per month.

Speed caps on the Starter Plan and Basic Plan have also been removed under the new pricing model.

The Large Plan is no longer featured in the new pricing model, but existing customers can remain on the plan.

Pre-Paid increases

Customers purchasing pre-paid services will take on the increased costs from October 22, with prices rising from $1 to $4.

  • The 3GB option will increase by $1, from $12 to $13.
  • The 15GB option will increase by $4, from $35 to $39.
  • The 25GB option will also increase by $4, from $45 to $49.
  • The 35GB option will increase by $4, from $55 to $59.
  • The 70GB option will increase by $4, from $65 to $69.
  • The 70GB six-month deal will increase by $20, from $160 to $180.
  • The 165GB 12-month deal will increase by $30, from $320 to $350.

Customers purchasing Pre-Paid Mobile Casual Plans will also pay increased prices from October 22.

  • The 200MB for 60 days option will increase to a 220MB option, costing $2 more at $25 with 55 minutes call time instead of 50 minutes and 70 texts instead of 65 texts.
  • The 350MB for six months option will increase to a 390MB option, costing $4 more at $39 with 110 minutes call time instead of 95 minutes and 140 texts instead of 120 texts.
  • The 550MB for six months option will increase to a 590MB option, costing $4 more at $59 with 180 minutes call time instead of 160 minutes and 200 texts instead of 185 texts.
  • The 700MB for 12 months option will increase to a 740MB option, costing $4 more at $74 with 220 minutes call time instead of 200 minutes and 220 texts instead of 200 texts.
  • The 1GB for 12 months option will increase to a 1.2GB option, costing $20 more at $120 with 360 minutes call time instead of 300 minutes and 360 texts instead of 300 texts.
