Taylor Swift says ‘I think we’re going to die’ after fire in £40m apartment | Celebrity News | Showbiz & TV

Taylor Swift has quipped that she feared for her life during a kitchen mishap in her swanky $50 million (£39.5 million) New York City pad.

The 34-year-old songstress’ good friend Gracie Abrams shared the hair-raising tale on Instagram, posting a video of Taylor battling the blaze with a fire extinguisher.

In the clip, a flustered Taylor is seen dealing with a flaming pan, exclaiming: “What do I do about this?” before seizing the extinguisher and pondering, “So I cut this with a knife? I think we’re going to die.”

As Taylor grappled with the extinguisher, struggling to discharge the foam, Gracie chimed in with guidance, saying: “Just press it.”

The Grammy-winning artist then branded the device a “b****” but ultimately succeeded in dousing the fire.

After the commotion, Taylor remarked: “Our purses are ruined. And my shoes. And the whole room, I think.”

While Gracie noted: “It smells really good, though.”

Before the fiery fiasco, the duo had been engrossed in crafting their track Us, which premiered on Friday as part of Gracie’s debut album The Secret of Us.

Reflecting on the songwriting session, which spanned from 2am to 6am, and the subsequent conflagration, Gracie recalled: “Writing this entire song… was some of the most fun I’ve ever had in my life.”

“@taylorswift now we know how to use a fire extinguisher. I love you.”

In the accompanying video, Gracie and Taylor can be seen crafting a tune, with Gracie on piano and both harmonising to lyrics on Taylor’s phone.

During a chat with Billboard, Gracie recalled the fiery incident: “I don’t know how at this hour or in our state she knew what to do. We both had an insane cough from the fire extinguisher fumes for weeks.”

Taylor is currently taking the UK by storm with her Eras Tour, and her beau Travis Kelce was spotted supporting her in London on Friday.

She dazzled a 90,000-strong crowd at Wembley Stadium, with celebrities like Nicola Coughlan and Cara Delevingne in attendance.

Prince William also delighted his children with Princess Katherine, Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, nine, and Prince Louis, six, with a stunning view of the concert from a private box on his 42nd birthday.
