Sydney high school teacher Tayla Brailey fronts court accused of abuse of teenage students

Sydney teacher Tayla Brailey has fronted court, accused of a string of offences, including engaging in sexual acts with two students in her care.

The 30-year-old was arrested at a school in the city’s southwest in April after it was alleged a 17-year-old boy had been sexually touched by a teacher.

She was granted condition bail and was later charged with six additional offences, relating to another student, aged 16.

7NEWS understands police identified the second alleged victim, after combing through her phone.

The charges include inciting a person under care to sexually touch, sexually touch person under special care, sexual intercourse with person under care and using a carriage service to solicit and access child abuse material.

On Wednesday, Brailey faced Campbelltown Local Court, supported by family, where her conditional bail was continued.

Under her strict bail conditions, she is banned from entering any educational facility, and must not leave home unless in the company of her parents.

It was also alleged in court the teacher exchanged in sexual videos with a student on Instagram over a 12-day period.

While her lawyer initially indicated she had denied the allegations, the court heard Brailey made some admissions to police about both students.

The nature of those admissions is unclear.

Brailey will not be required to attend court later in October, after her lawyer requested her appearance be excused due to intense media scrutiny.

Brailey got married last year.

The NSW Education Department earlier said it had suspended her without pay following the allegations.

“The safety and welfare of students are our highest priorities,” a spokesperson said.

This matter is listed for further mention on October 30 at Campbelltown Local Court.
