Sunrise star Edwina Bartholomew shares life update after TV absence

Sunrise presenter Edwina Bartholomew has shared a life update after “the most productive and restorative” two weeks away from TV screens.

Eddy returned to Sunrise on Monday after spending the past fortnight holidaying with her family.

But in a new Instagram post, Eddy explained how she and husband Neil Varcoe had achieved a lot while she had been away from her day job.

The couple are currently renovating an historic hotel called The Victoria 1846 in Carcoar, NSW, with plans to reopen it in 2025.

Previously, Eddy explained how Neil had left behind is role in digital media to help with the development of The Victoria.

“We had to sell our house in Sydney to do it,” Eddy told the Hosting With Heart podcast, about the decision to buy the property.

“My husband had been working in tech for Twitter, so for us, instead of a big mortgage in Sydney, we thought we would invest in a business that we could build for our family.”

In recent weeks, while Eddy has enjoyed some quality time with her kids, Molly, three, and Tom, one, while on holiday, she has also been ticking some serious boxes when it comes to the family’s new venture too.

“The most productive and restorative two weeks @thevictoria1846,” Eddy shared to Instagram on Monday.

“Our team from @studioesteta and @studio_uc_ met in Carcoar to finalise our plans. The DA will be submitted next month.

“Moved everything to the shed for a massive garage sale (Sunday Oct 29th – if you fancy a visit to the Central West)

“Watched diggers and rode on the mower with @neilwrites.

“Planned the outdoor fire cooking space with @smokingauchos. More to come on these plans soon.”

Eddy also revealed how she had been filming an update on her development with a production company — and even that wasn’t all.

“Gave a speech at my old uni @charlessturtuni with a stain on my only shirt. Fitting.

“Two days of garden work with @ed_landscapes_

“Welcomed old friends @nuritophircreative and many more to visit.

“Exciting few months ahead.”

Speaking previously about her plans for the old hotel, Eddy revealed the vibe they were going for.

“Imagine a beautiful kitchen garden, outdoor cooking and eating space, an orchard with chickens, an imaginative play area for kids and lots of birch trees, roses and natives,” she wrote to Instagram in June.

“We have a year and a bit of work ahead of us but it really feels like the plans are taking shape and we can begin the transformation.”

Edwina announced in May that she and her writer husband had taken on the rural hotel project.

“We just sold our house… and bought a hotel,” she wrote on May 7.

“In 1846, the Victoria Hotel was built on the banks of the Belubula River in Carcoar.

“It was a single story inn, visited by locals, travellers and the odd bushranger.

“177 years later, on that very same parcel of land, The Victoria returns to welcome a new generation of guests.”
