Sunrise weather presenter Sam Mac found himself in a rather relaxed state on Thursday morning — receiving a massage live on air.
Presenting live from his massage table at the luxurious Alba Thermal Springs and Spa on Victoria’s Mornington Peninsula, he insisted: “I don’t come up with these ideas.”

Instead, he referred to his producer Sean Flynn aka the “Evil emoji” who “thought this is what you guys want to see in the morning, so you’re welcome”.
With spa director Kelly and therapist Filly on hand, the segment quickly took a humorous turn as Sam found himself the centre of some playful studio banter.
As Filly worked on his legs, Sam introduced the spa team, only to be interrupted by a cheeky observation from co-host Natalie Barr: “It’s a bit high!”— a reference to the precariously placed towel.
Things got even more personal when Sam revealed his cameraman had questioned his choice of undergarments just before going live.
“Our cameraman just said to me before we came on air, ‘Hey, are you wearing underwear?’ Kelly said, ‘We can see, there’s a mirror over there, we think he is’,” Sam recounted.
The studio erupted with laughter, with someone yelling: “That is too much information!”
As the treatment continued, Sam did his best to keep the conversation on track, asking Kelly about the benefits of the mask being applied to his skin.
“I’m applying a beautiful replenishing mask to your skin,” Kelly explained.
“This is a really rich, hydrating mask … it’s called our plant replenishment mask. So this is going to plump and tone your skin and even out your complexion.”
Sam chimed in: “Is it anti-ageing? Everything is anti-ageing these days. Why do people not want to age anymore? You can’t fight it, or you can.”
He couldn’t resist name-dropping a fellow massage recipient either.
“Is it true that Christina Aguilera has been in this actual massage bed and had a similar treatment?”
Kelly confirmed the pop star’s visit.
“She had a very similar treatment … she was here with her husband actually.”
As the segment wrapped up, Sam acknowledged the awkwardness of his situation.
“I’m here with the emoji (producer Sean Flynn) while my fiancée is at home with two under two. So that works well.”
Nat joked: “I just hope Bec isn’t turning on the TV, she’s got a newborn and a toddler and you are getting a massage on national television”.
Sam and his fiancée Rebecca James welcomed their second daughter Mabel in August.
“I love you honey, I’ll be home soon. Love you, miss you,” Sam said to the camera.
