Matt Shirvington is always ready to take on new challenges.
And the Sunrise host did exactly that on Tuesday, when he faced his fears by swimming with sharks.

Shirvo was joined by viewer Stefan Schwob at Sydney’s SeaLife, where the pair got into wetsuits and came face-to-face with the resident apex predators.
Shirvo couldn’t help himself but have a laugh as the monsters sailed right by him.
“It was really good. The most remarkable thing is that you get all the training and you get an understanding of being close to these beasts. ‘You think, man, it’s so scary,’ he said.
“That vision of them coming straight at you with their teeth and almost with a slight, sinister smile on their face was the most scary thing.
“As I’m there and if you have ever been to SeaLife or any aquarium, they have tunnels. People are walking through the tunnels. You can say hi to them. Wave to them.
“But I pointed to a couple of the sharks a few times. The instructor would pull your hand down, ‘Don’t put your hand out.’ Sometimes, you know, over the years, they have hand-fed them.”
Shirvo said he Stefan had nerves at the beginning of the segment but they dissipated once they were in the water.
“Once you were down there and you got a better understanding for the diving and all that stuff and they talk you through it, it was actually really serene and beautiful.
“I loved it. Loved it.”
Shirvo regularly puts his body on the line for Sunrise segments. In October, he tested a number of ways to avoid getting swooped by magpies.
The breakfast show host rode his bike through Manly Vale in the city’s Northern Beaches, during nesting season, testing four ways to avoid magpies.
Shirvo even used his own trick of using a handheld speaker, playing magpie noises, as he rode through the park.
Surprisingly, that was the one that worked and he managed to ride around the park without being swooped.
“So cable ties, swoop! Eyes in the back of your head, swoop! Bird toys, swoop! What about this speaker with a magpie noise? I didn’t get swooped at all,” Shirvo said.
