Skoda India SUVs: Skoda India to take on Vitara, Brazza with compact SUV launch in 2025

Skoda Auto on Tuesday announced plans to launch a compact sports utility vehicle in India, , a region featuring in the auto-giant’s top 5 markets and a nation where appetite for ‘accessible premium’ is on the rise.

The company is hoping that this new car will be the biggest volume generator for Škoda in India. Skoda Auto India is looking to increase its share in the Indian market to 5 per cent by 2030.

With a mission to democratize European technology on Indian roads, the auto giant claims that the new car to will be the biggest volume generator for Skoda in India.

Further, Petr Janeba, Brand Director, Skoda Auto India, has announced that Skoda Auto will debut a compact SUV for the Indian market.

“I am extremely pleased to announce that a year from now, Škoda Auto will debut an all-new car, a compact SUV for the Indian market. Like the Kushaq and the Slavia, it will be made in India, ready for the world,” he said.

“The new compact SUV will help us compete in the largest segment of the Indian automotive industry,” said Dr Johannes Neft, Member of the Board of Management for Technical Development, Škoda Auto. “When we started planning the India growth strategy, it was clear that we would have to have a product portfolio tailor-made for Indian customers, offering high value and the core Škoda DNA of safety and driving dynamics,” Neft added. Neft, speaking at the event, also noted that the MQB-A0-IN platform used in the Skoda Kushaq and Skoda Slavia will power the Czech auto giant to enter in a ‘new era’ with the entry of the all-new compact SUV segment.

About 50 per cent of Skoda cars manufactured outside of the Czech Republic are produced in India, he said, adding, the company’s export strategy of India developed products continues to gain momentum.

“Our cars have already been exported to the Gulf countries. We’ve also announced our market entry into Vietnam, supported by our successful operations in India, and cars and components manufactured in Pune are taking Skoda Auto to new parts of the world,” he said.

Zellmer noted that Skoda Auto has just fixed its future investment strategy in terms of product enhancements for the existing range and is also adding new products both in internal combustion engine and battery electric vehicles segments.
