Singer Reba McEntire hits back at claims she called Taylor Swift an ‘entitled little brat’

Country singer Reba McEntire has hit back at allegations that she called Taylor Swift an “entitled little brat” after the pop star’s attendance at the Super Bowl final in February.

McEntire, who is a judge on the American version of The Voice, has addressed swirling internet rumours that the pair have a longstanding feud.

The claims emerged after McEntire performed the national anthem at the star-studded event, which was won by the Kansas City Chiefs — the team featuring Swift’s boyfriend Travis Kelce.

Over the weekend, McEntire took to Instagram to address claims that she was furious at Swift for “laughing and drinking and making a mockery of the event” during the singing of the national anthem.

She shared a screenshot of the Facebook post that started the most recent rumours, from an account called “America Loves Liberty”.

The post claimed McEntire was “disappointed” by Swift’s behaviour at the game, falsely quoting McEntire as saying: “I let her have it afterwards. She’s an entitled little brat”.

“Please don’t believe everything you see on the internet,” she wrote.

“I did not say this. Taylor is a wonderful artist, strong role model and has done so much good for so many people and the music industry.”

Fans were quick to take to the comments section beneath the post and thank her for denying the claims.

“Anyone who has actually been a Reba fan for a minute would KNOW Reba would never act like that,” one fan said of the 68-year-old country music icon.

“As soon as I saw this stupid story, I knew it was a lie,” wrote another.

“Reba leads the industry with class, she would never do anything like this.

“Good gracious. As though you would have ever said such a thing,” added a third.

Taylor Swift initially got her start as a country music artist before branching out into a more pop-oriented sound.

And her history with McEntire goes back decades.

McEntire presented Swift with the Crystal Milestone Award at the Country Music Awards way back in 2009.

She also presented the rising star with the Entertainer of the Year Award two years later, where she beat out the likes of Keith Urban, Jason Aldean and Blake Shelton.

As recently as December, McEntire told NBC that she was a massive fan of Swift and knew she would be a star after watching her sing Tim McGraw, from her first album, in front of the artist her song was named after.

“(Taylor) walked down the steps looking right at Tim McGraw (as she sang) and I’m like, ‘this girl’s gonna be a huge star’,” McEntire said.

“To walk downstairs (and) sing at your icon that you’re really wanting to impress without a flaw … I mean, I was impressed.”

Hilariously, when news broke that Swift was dating Kelce, McEntire gave an interview with TODAY saying she was “mad” at the Midnights star because she had a little bit of a crush on Kelce herself.

“Oh, my gosh, I am so mad at her because I had a crush on him,” she jokingly admitted.

“Now I can’t have a crush anymore because he’s dating her.

“I was so devastated.”
